Terms of Service

The service

Say Equation is a service operated by UNIHOLIX OÜ (registry code 17479878, Estonia). These terms apply when you use it. By using it or buying a pack of conversions, you accept them.

You say a formula while you hold a button, or write it in plain words, in your own language. An AI model writes it as LaTeX code. The page shows the code, a preview of it and a button to copy it. A few conversions a day are free; packs add more.

What the LaTeX is, and what it is not

• It is LaTeX code produced by AI from your words or your recording, for you to check, edit and use.
• It can mishear or misread you, and the preview may not draw every command. Check the code and the preview before you use them.
• It is not professional advice, not a certification and not a guarantee that a formula is mathematically right.
• Whether you may use the service, or its results, in a course, a homework, an exam or a publication is decided by your school, your teacher or the publisher. Following those rules is your responsibility.

Who can use it

You must be 13 or older (or the higher minimum age in your country) to use the service, and if you are under 18 you may use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian.

If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

Purchases are not available to anyone located in, or acting for a person in, a country or region that is subject to EU or other applicable sanctions or that our payment and banking partners do not serve (currently including Afghanistan, Belarus, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Chad, Cuba, Eritrea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, the Republic of the Congo, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen, and the Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine). We may decline or refund an order that breaks this rule.

Free conversions

A few conversions a day are free for each visitor, shown on the page. Free conversions are offered while the day's free allowance for all visitors lasts, and we may pause them when the service is busy. They do not need a pack or an account.

Price, payment and delivery

• Conversions are sold in packs. Before you pay, the page shows each pack's size, its price and its price per conversion. One conversion turns one formula into LaTeX.
• Prices are set in US dollars. At checkout you may see and pay the price in your local currency, converted by our payment processor. The price shown at checkout is the full price you pay us; your bank may charge its own fees.
• You pay once for a pack through our payment processor. A pack is not a subscription and needs no account. The payment processor emails you a receipt. After paying you get a pack code: it opens your pack on any device, and anyone who has it can use your conversions, so keep it safe. Do not sell the code; a pack cannot be exchanged for cash.
• A pack can be used for 12 months from payment. Each result appears on screen, usually within seconds. A conversion that cannot be produced is not taken from your pack, and you can try again; the same request sent again within a day is not counted twice. If conversions keep failing so that a pack can no longer be used, you get back the share of the price for the conversions left in it.
• We do not keep a copy of your results. Copy them when they appear.

Right of withdrawal and refunds

Before you pay, you tick a box to confirm that you want each conversion delivered as soon as you use it and that you understand you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal for each conversion once it has been delivered. We record this confirmation with your payment.

If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a contract for digital content. Because you ask for immediate delivery and acknowledge the loss of this right, the right ends for each conversion once it has been delivered (Article 16(m) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive and the equivalent rules in the United Kingdom). Conversions you have not used can be refunded if you ask within 14 days of paying.

Your input and your responsibility

• Say or write only the formula. Do not include personal data, such as names, contact details or student numbers, or confidential material. This is your responsibility.
• Record only your own voice. Do not record other people, a lecture or a class without their permission.
• We do not keep what you say or write, or the results, after the result has been sent back to you.
• If your input contains personal data about other people, you decide why and how it is processed, and we process it only to produce your result, on your instructions. Business customers who need a data processing agreement can write to ceo@uniholix.com.

Acceptable use

• Do not send unlawful content, or content meant to harass, deceive, impersonate or harm anyone.
• Do not try to overload or attack the service or get around its limits, including the daily free allowance, and do not copy or reverse-engineer it.
• Do not present a result to others as a certification or a professional opinion.

Protecting the service

• Use the service through its web page. Do not use bots, scripts or other automated means to send it requests or to collect its content. Tools that help you read or use the page, such as screen readers, are fine.
• Do not try to find out, extract or rebuild the instructions, rules or methods the service uses to produce results, for example by saying or writing words made to make the AI reveal them, and do not reverse-engineer the service.
• You may use your own results as described under Intellectual property. Do not run the service for others as a business, for example by reselling conversions in bulk or offering the service under your own name, and do not collect results into a dataset or use them to build or train a competing service.
• If you break these rules, we may refuse further orders and block access to the service.

About AI results

Each result is produced by an AI model from your words or your recording. It is for your own use, after you have checked it.

• It can mishear, misread or be wrong. Check the code and the preview before you rely on it or use it.
• It is not professional advice of any kind, including teaching, academic or engineering advice.
• It is not a certification or a guarantee of any outcome, such as a grade or an accepted paper.
• It is about your formula, not about you. Do not use it to evaluate, rank or select individual people, for example to grade students or judge applicants.

Intellectual property

• You keep all rights in what you say and write. You allow us and our service providers to use it only to produce your results.
• We do not take ownership of your formulas. We allow you to use, copy and share your results for any lawful purpose, within the limits under Protecting the service. This permission is not exclusive, and the results come without any warranty, as described under About AI results.
• The website, its design, its text and its code belong to UNIHOLIX OÜ or its licensors.

Liability

We provide the service with reasonable care. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for decisions you take on the basis of a result, such as what you submit or publish.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim before the courts there.

If you have a complaint, please email us first: most problems can be solved quickly. If you are a consumer in the EU, you can also turn to the Estonian Consumer Disputes Committee (Tarbijavaidluste komisjon) or ask the European Consumer Centre in your country for help.

Changes

We may change these terms when the service or the law changes. The current version is always on this page. The terms that applied when you paid apply to that purchase.
